Cheeky Torch (Lampworked) Glass Writing Pens
My
pens are made almost exclusively using glass from Double Helix.
This COE 104 glass is classified as a
reactive glass as it exhibits dramatic and strikingly unique
characteristics when exposed to either propane-rich or oxygen-rich
torch fuel blend mixtures.
Visual attributes can be altered even
further by lengthening the time the completed piece is annealled in
the kiln.
Absolutely no two will ever be alike !! No way, no how, simply
can't happen and that means uniqueness is assurred.
Occasionally, hard borosilicate
glass from specialty manufacturers such as Momka's is
used.
Shown above are the basic polished steel pens. They also come
in a variety of colors and also a number of finishes ranging from
highly
polished to dull flat mattes.
Ink colors are blue and black. Refills are widely available
online and in a number of different point sizes, fine, med, etc.
Comments I receive include pleasant surprise at how
heavy the finished pens are - The glass adds a decent amount of heft.
Each is unique, quite agreeable to hold and very suitable as a
high-quality gift.
